...serenity in motion

"Go back to the beginning, Vizzini! That's what you told us to do!"

“Go back to the beginning, Vizzini! That’s what you told us to do!”

For those of us who have seen the most fabulous movie of all time, you know what I am talking about.  It is a reference to starting over.  Never mind that Inigo was also drinking again.  I don’t think we need to go all that distance but, sometimes it is extremely valuable to stand next to someone who is at their beginning.

A friend of mine and two other lovely ladies were granted a 6-month residency locally and I was invited to see their studio and what they were doing.  All three are working in pastel but they are exploring different things about the medium and how to use it.  Two of them have begun to figure out one of the techniques I wanted to conquer and all of them helped me get some more magical energy.  Let me be clear, they generously shared what they had learned with me, and I am supremely grateful.  They had no reason to do so and I want to make it clear how much it meant to me.

I don’t ever want to go all the way back to the beginning, I am not sure I could if I wanted to.  There are amazing things to be discovered in the past though and my visit with these three was invaluable.  I don’t want to change the things I am working toward, but it did help revive some of the things I have learned and put me back on what I consider a valuable path.  Being with them gave me a "refreshed" perspective and also opened up some new opportunities with other new friends.

I really want to thank P, B & J for inviting me into their creative space.  It was generous to do so and also amazing that they are sharing the things they are learning.  I must not be an old dog yet, they taught me a few new tricks.  Seriously, thank you.
