Thoughts on the season and how much fun it is to see something grow

It’s a lot of work, to earn the right to not work for hourly wage. Why do we do it? Mental rambling on the motivation for being an artist.

It will always be a mystery why we put ourselves out there but here I am, at a show; again.

Being involved in the art business can see you facing a ton of things you aren't familiar with. New experiences can bring new challenges, asking your community for guidance can really help you conquer the obstacles you encounter.

Managing your goals, wants and needs can be a juggling act. Take a breath, step back and evaluate what you are trying to accomplish.

Paying commissions feels like a travesty to many but those galleries earn every penny of it. Look at what you get for what you are paying before you commit to the contract. If it doesn't feel equitable, just don't sign the contract and hang on their walls.

Sometimes, we try things to see if we like it. Other times, we do things because we said we would. As artists; we experiment with new concepts, materials and ideas. It doesn't matter if you stick with it but I can tell you if you don't give it your best effort, you will really never know the truth about what can happen.
