...serenity in motion
My word this year is "Grounding". I am a part of the Northwest Pastel Society and we have our meeting today. The president asked us to consider finding a word for the year. If you could pick a word to be the guiding direction for the year. Grounding to me means solidifying my base of self. Every year I work to decide what it is that I want to achieve for the year. There are shows, inventory, paintings that I want to create, my health, my community and finally my family and my health. These aren't in order of priority and maybe I need to figure out which is the priority but I know that changes.
Last year, I worked on grants. I was awarded one and was able to take a couple of amazing trips for it and ended up creating some incredible friendships. I tried leading an organization and learned a lot. I have moved my studio to a new locations and found satisfying work that doesn't interfere with my art. I learned a new technique and have been pushing that and creating amazing work. Still learning about it but the growth has been incredible.
I am starting the year as the president of a different organization. It is different than the school, it isn't a non-profit and we are more a group for supporting creative people rather than community education.
I am going to challenge everyone to think of a word for the year. Think about what you might want to accomplish this year? Where does your goal take you in the future? We accomplish more by creating goals. I hope that you all have an amazing year and that you see accomplishments that lift you up and move you forward.
