...serenity in motion
Yep, I forgot yesterday's post. I'm sorry.
Why am I even doing this now, a day late? Because I believe in showing up. I have written about that in the past, showing up that is. So many opportunities are lost because we don't show up at all. Romance, advancement, chances, winning.... The Tortoise and the Hare is one of the most recognized about winning. Showing up late means you are still sticking to it. I know of artists who listen for a phone call from promoters because they needed a late fill in at an important art show. Holes in the display lineup can hinder an artshow. A big blank wall, can interrupt the flow and cause other artists to loose visitors and then sales.
Blaze the Wonder Horse is a story about the last horse offered at an auction. The dad and son showed up late and Blaze was the last offering for the day. The horse became a hero despite his being last. (It's a pretty neat horse story if you are interested.) There are so many art careers that became amazing even though the artist showed up late in life. Grandma Moses was one of them, and if you look back you can read about her in my past blogs. The point is, we keep ourselves from so many chances because we become embarrassed to show up late. When you are the last through the door, all eyes are on you. During the regency period, people showed up late to achieve that very thing.
Being late means you get to make an entrance. If you are late, work very hard to gather yourself so that you can put your best foot forward. If you are already late, take a moment to breathe deep, center yourself and enter with all the aplomb of a proud debutante at a grand ball. Be your best if you are late, and if you are so late that everything there has passed you by, look for another opportunity to present itself.
I hope that you can take a moment to catch your breath, center yourself and enter the church service with confidence and your head held high. God doesn't care that you are late to his house, he just cares that you show up. Here is one bit of advice; unless you are a debutante, try not to be too disruptive. If you are setting up a display after a show opens, be tidy, respectful and quick. You need to make the most of the chance given to you, don't ruin it by pissing everyone off. Good luck, I'm running late to my workout today, maybe I will see you there.
